Selecting the Right Room Divider
The A100 Sliding Wall system was chosen for this project due to its sleek and modern design, as well as its ability to stack neatly to one end of the wall. The doors featured white translucent glass with a natural anodised aluminium frame, ensuring the space felt light and open, even when enclosed. This combination allowed the new bedroom to feel bright while still offering privacy.
Creating a Seamless Finish
One of the key challenges of this installation was integrating the sliding wall into the townhouse’s existing structure. To achieve a professional and cohesive finish, a bulkhead was installed to bring the opening below the cornice, ensuring the doors had a dedicated space to sit neatly when closed. This approach helped maintain the architectural integrity of the home.
Additionally, recessed tracks were installed on either side of the carpet, allowing the doors to slide smoothly while keeping the floor space uncluttered. Our installation team carefully cut the carpet and re-stretched it to either side of the door tracks, ensuring a seamless and polished appearance. To ensure the best result, the homeowner organised a carpet professional to complete the re-stretching, making the transition between spaces visually flawless.
Maximising Accessibility and Functionality
The A100 Sliding Wall consists of three individual doors that neatly stack to one end, allowing for 75% access at any one time. This means that when the doors are open, the space feels connected to the rest of the home, but when closed, it functions as a fully enclosed bedroom. The flexibility of the sliding wall ensures that Grandma has a private and comfortable space while keeping the home’s layout adaptable for future use.

This installation not only provided a functional extra bedroom but also enhanced the overall flow and versatility of the home. The homeowners were thrilled with the transformation, as it allowed them to accommodate a family member while maintaining a contemporary and stylish look.
